Grandma Jan Visits the O.C.

Last week, Matthew met his grandmother Jan for the first time. Grandma Jan lives in Ohio, so this is the first time she has seen little Matthew. She stayed for a week. We had such a good time. We went to the beach, cooked, and hung out. I got very spoiled to have someone help me with the cooking and the cleaning. I even got to take several naps. We already miss Grandma Jan. Thank you for everything!

He Sees!

Being a mom is so amazing for many different reasons. However, I must admit, my most favorite thing is watching Matthew smile at all of the new objects he sees. It's almost like an awakening. The first month or so of a baby's life seems wonderful, yet so routine. They really only sleep, eat, and poop. I love that Matthew now interacts with me by looking at me and smiling. One of his favorite things is to lay in his crib and watch the fish on his mobile go around. If funny to watch him laugh at the fish. I just love it! Now, if I could only get him to sleep in his crib. Any suggestions anyone??? He looks so happy watching his fishies, but, this is only a ten minute or so occurrence. Gotta love it!!!

Milk Coma

I just love this picture. Mattie fell asleep yesterday after I fed him. He was so hot and so tired, so I stripped him down and put him on the floor. He was out for a good hour. It was so fun to watch him sleep and dream. He's quite the little snorer as well. I get a kick out of all the noises he makes while sleeping.

Mama Paulie

Since Matthew has been born, our little miss Paulie girl has been going through quite a transition. She is absolutely in love with Matthew, but she has been giving Mikey and I the "cold shoulder" because she no longer gets our undivided attention. Not to mention, Paulie is extremely sleep deprived. She gets up every two hours (yes, Matthew still eats every two hours at night) with me to feed the baby. It is so sad...She hates when the baby cries. She becomes very nervous and looks at me like, "Aren't you going to do something". Life's rough when you're Mama Paulie!

My Little Trooper...

Now that I have gotten the hang of transporting a 6 week old around, I have really gotten to love going places again. Mattie just loves his car seat and enjoys going about the town with his mommy. The best part is that I can get so much done when I get home because he usually sleeps like this in his car seat for about a half an hour or so after we get home. He looks so cute, I must say!

I Am One Month Old Today...

Mattie is becoming such a big boy. He turned one month old today. It has been such a joy to watch him grow and change every day. He has become so alert and it seems as though he kind of knows the difference between day and night. He has been sleeping so much better. He does eat every two to three hours. However, he goes right back to sleep after eating, which is very nice. During the day, he loves going on walks and having his baths. During his walks he looks around at all of the scenery. He also loves the fish that go round and round on his swing. He could stare at them for hours...This is good. His swing is the one contraption that allows for me to do housework and cook dinner. Hooray for the swing!

So Not Morning People...

This is daddy and I in the morning. I am just like my daddy...I hate mornings! I prefer burning the midnight oil with mommy much more.

Because I am so cute and so loved, I have many aunties. This is Auntie Lilo, who just cannot get enough of me.

These are a few of my Favorite Things...

Aside from going on walks, getting a bath is my other favorite past time. I just love my baths. Now that I am getting bigger, I actuall smile and look at mommy while I am getting lathered up. And, beccause I am so cute, mommy gives me a lotion massage after my bath, which I think I may like even better than my bath. Mommy and daddy love the way I smell after a bath and kiss me all day long!

My First Walk

Little did mommy know, going on a walk happens to be my favorite thing to do. As long as my tummy is full, I am game for an hour walk or more. This is a great way to keep mommy sane and to give me a chance to catch up on my Z'ssss...Like I don't sleep all day as it is.
