Our Adventures at Central Park...

Matthew and I have been making many visits to our "duck friends" at Central Park. In fact, we pretty much visit daily, unless we have other plans or I have to work. It's great for me, because I get to jog over there, it's great for Matthew, because he gets to visit with all of his friends, and it's great for the ducks, because they get to eat, and eat, and eat. I was lucky enough to get some great photos during one of our adventures last week, so I thought I would share.

Presents for Pike...

Last weekend, my friend Jenn had her baby shower. I was so excited to go, as I have not seen Jenn in over a year. Since her and her hubby moved to Texas, meeting up is pretty much impossible. So, needless to say, I got my "Jenn fix", and it was so great!!!
Jenn looked absolutely amazing. She makes a great pregnant lady and will make an even more amazing mommy!
Jenn and her hubby Andy, will be welcoming Baby Pike sometime in the middle of December. I am going to try my hardest to make it out to Texas to visit her and the baby.
We can hardly wait to meet you, Baby Pike!!!

Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. O'Hara...

Michelle Wines, a long-time friend of the family, tied the knot on October 9th, 2009. I have literally known Michelle my entire life, as I went to pre-school with her older brother Ryan. Because my mama and Ryan & Michelle's mama would meet and greet daily as they dropped Ryan and I off at pre-school, it was not long that they became friends.
Well, to this day, we have all remained friends. So, you can only imagine that we were all so excited to attend Michelle and Kevin's wedding.
Michelle and Kevin wed in Carlsbad on a beautiful Friday evening. We all had an amazing time!!!

What the, "BLOG"!!!

So, here it is, October 28th, and I am realizing that I have not updated our blog since August 2009! No bueno! Keeping up with life's many memories has always been a priority for me, but lately, I have not had the time to do anything extra than literally keep my head above water.

A month ago, I realized that I had not finished Matthew's "baby book", so I made finishing his book a priority. I am so happy to announce that his book is now up to date. I have enjoyed looking back at it and seeing how much he has grown/changed.

Also, I have been working four days a week for the past two months, in hopes to earn some extra money for our family. I feel blessed that I have the opportunity to work the extra hours in a time when many people are facing lay-offs and unemployment. However, being at work this much has really taken a toll on my free-time and my energy level. I miss Matthew so much and cannot wait to spend every second of my days off with him.

Matthew and I have gotten the opportunity to enjoy lots of Fall Festivities. He is obsessed with pumpkins. I think I must have about ten pumpkins at the house now, as he loves to carry them around and place them in various places. Hey, it keeps him busy and mommies need that!!!

I also joined a MOPS group at my church and have enjoyed sharing my journey through "mommyhood" with other Christian ladies. Matthew has also gotten to make some new friends at Port Mariners. I just love watching him through the window when he does not know I am looking. He is growing up so much and is developing such an adorable personality.

Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Ardito

My sister-in-law Kelly and Vince got married this summer in Poipu Beach, Kauai. Mike and I were so honored to be a part of their day and were so "put out" that we had to go to Kauai. LOL! We all had a great time. It was great to connect with all of our family and friends, and of course, to watch Vince and Kelly say "I do" in one of the most beautiful places on earth.
Mike and I also celebrated our third wedding anniversary there. Being there was extra special for us because Poipu Beach is where my hubby proposed to me.
Although Mike and I had a great time, we could hardly wait to get back, as Matthew stayed home with Grandma and Grandpa. We missed him so much!!!
Congratulations Vince and Kelly

Matthew's One Year Pediatrician Visit...

Matthew had is "one-year" check-up with Dr. Rees last week. As always, Matthew is thriving, growing like a weed, and overall, doing very well. He continues to remain in the 95th percentile for height, so I am convinced that Matthew is going to grow up to be quite tall. His pediatrician was impressed with both his motor and cognitive development. Matthew is quite a little "brut", as he was moving the furniture in the exam room. (Kind of embarassing). He also has quite a bit to say for his age. He now says "mama", "dada", "duck", although is sounds more like "duh", "dog", and "ugh oh". Matthew's favorite thing to do is read book after book after book. I am convinced that all of the reading I do to him is really paying off. I hope he continues to be my little "book worm".

Here are his stats...

Height - 30.4 inches...95th percentile

Weight - 23 pounds, 9 ounces...50th percentile

Head circumference - 47 centimeters...90th percentile

Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Smith...

Our friends Drake and Audra wed on Friday, July 31st. The wedding ceremony and reception were at Rancho Los Lomas in Silverado. Mike and I had a great time, as that was the first time in quite a while, that we were able to "get away", Matthew free. It was also great for Mike to catch up with lots of old friends he went to high school with.
Congratulations Drake and Audra. Have fun on your honeymoon in Bali~

Welcome Baby Luke...

My friend Stacie, and her husband Nathan, FINALLY got to bring their precious Luke home from the hospital.
Luke and Matthew share the same birthday. Luke was born on July 5th, 2009. Luke must have been really excited to meet his parents and was only 34 1/2 weeks old when he was born. But, all of our prayers were answered. Luke was born perfectly healthy and only needed to stay in the NICU for two weeks.
Luke is now home with his mommy and daddy, and is doing very well. His proud parents had a "welcome home" baby shower, and I was able to meet Luke for this very first time.
Welcome home baby Luke. You are a cutie!!!

Needles Trip ~ July 2009

We were lucky enough to sqeeze in another trip to Needles during the busy month of July. We had such a good time. As always, it is great to get together with good friends and relax with the kiddos. Well, I guess I did not get to do too much relaxing, but that's alright, because the kids had such a great time, it was all worth it. Despite the rediculously hot temperatures as well, the kiddos all managed to do very well. We can hardly wait to go back again.

Matthew's First Birthday Party...

We celebrated Matthew's First Birthday by having a party for him on Sunday, July 12th. In keeping with Matthew's "Lone Ranger" theme, the theme of his nursery, his baby showers, etc, Mike and I chose to finish his first year of life with a "Western Bang"! We wanted to keep it simple...backyard relaxation, good friends, good food, and lots of fun for the kiddos. Looking back, I believe we did just that. It was a great day and most importantly, Matthew had an amazingly wonderful time....He got his first taste of cake! How could it have been bad!
We love you, our sweet baby boy!
Happy 1st Birthday....May all of your wishes come true!
The dreaded "bounce house"~DISCLAIMER...To all of my Ortho. friends, not one supracondylar humerus fracture was sustained!
We practiced safe jumping!
